The Apple iPad, marketed as a revolutionary, magical device was a success from day one. Initially when it was announced, critics wrote it off as an iPod Touch with a larger display. But going by the number of units that Apple has sold – more than 15 million iPad’s in less than a year – its turned out to be a mind-boggling commercial success, that has caught many of Apple’s competitors by surprise and literally set them scrambling to release similar competitive tablets.

The iPad comes in two variants – WiFi only and WiFi + 3G. It runs on Apple’s mobile operating system iOS which also powers the iPhone and iPod Touch. What makes the iPad special is its large 9.7 inch display with plenty of screen real estate, that makes it much easier for users to accomplish more complicated tasks, increases productivity and drastically improves the overall gaming experience.
